British artist

Dame Knight, Laura, RA (1877-1970)

Knight was the most important woman artist in Britain during the Second World War, and the first to be elected to the Royal Academy since 1760. She worked on a number of commissions for the WAAC during the war and was one of only three British women war artists who travelled abroad. At the end of the war she painted the war crimes tribunal at Nuremberg.
