Britain\u2019s investment in defending Canada during the War of 1812 proved very beneficial in the long term. The dominion became an important trading partner, a destination for British immigrants, and a source of military and economic support for Britain during the two world wars of the twentieth century. But, when the British look back at the early nineteenth century, they remember the Napoleonic Wars, not the War of 1812.<\/p>\n
