COAST P21: PETERS / GREEN EXPERIMENT P22: Analysis. / Trees poor. Shadow over nudes head should not be influenced by heads shape. Blue of water looks neither like sky or water. Faces of both girls unsatisfactory. Nose of smaller figure that of prize fighter. Eyes are more suitable for a Frankenstein monster. Bathing suit excellent demonstrating how thickened color can be used for shadow. How can I do away with outlining figures to knit them together? Shadow of foreground grass passable. Reflection of them better than trees themselves by no means excellent however. Nose of nude lacks je ne sais quoi. Shadow on neck too thick deep. Composition fairly good. Merry countenances on the ladies might have added a nice touch. Lots of green on background trees patchy. Eyebrows of nude should be blonde + thinner but young blonde ladies do adopt black eyebrows. Lighted areas of nude’s flesh little to be desired. Orange bathing suit compliments blue and related greens. Background grass should have had more yellow. Not enough sunlight in background. i.e. not enough yellow-greens. Washes patchy + specks of white still exposed which is sheer carelessness. Of the picture, the bathing suit and the abdomen of nude please most. P23: PETERS 45
