TORONTO; (buzzer-obverse/ronfleur avers): BUZZER, PRACTICE, AIR CADET TYPE, R.C.A.F. REF NO. 10A4236 MADE IN CANADA BY WILSON MFG.CO., TORONTO, ONTARIO; (reverse/verso) ADJUSTMENT INSTRUCTINS FOR TYPE 10A/4236 BUZZER PRACTICE SET Note: Instructions refer to unit placed before operating as in normal use. BATTERIES- Two 1.5 volt dry cells having a diameter of 1 ¼ inches are required. These may be of any food battery container, and insert the batteries so that the positive (central) terminals will be away from you. Press batteries home and replace clip and screw, being sure to see that the clip is making a tight contact with the outside zinc case of the battery. KEY- Adjust the gap between the contact points by means of the farthest away knurled screw. Allow gap about the thickness of a visiting card. Adjust spring only to suit. Tighten knurled locknuts with fingers only. Do not use pliers. BUZZER - Adjustment is normally governed by the screw on the left hand side of the vibrator assembly. This adjustment is rather critical, but once set correctly will remain so for quite a long time. A very small movement will make a great change in tone, and therefore the adjustment must be done very carefully. To turn the screw use a screwdriver, or the side of a steel nail file. The other adjusting screw (the right hand one) is set at the factory and rarely needs to be changed. DUAL OPERATION- The two binging posts on the back of the unit may be connected to the binding posts on a second unit, thereby allowing communication between two persons. Using insulated copper wire (ordinary cotton covered bell wire will do) join the binding post on the right hand post on the other unit, and the two left hand posts together in the same manner. When connected together in this way inter-communication may be established over a distance of 200 feet or even more. Note: - if when the units are connected together the buzzers operate before the key is pressed down, then the connections between the units are incorrect and adjust the buzzers for dual operation even though they work perfectly as separate units.
