When marked a variety of methods materials and colours can be used. Examples are:; ACTION IN A MINED AREA STOP WARN REPORT ASSESS ACT - assume everyone is in a minefield -contact your OPS room - size of minefield, safe areas, routes out etc -if help is available and you can, stay put, if not start extraction; ON FOOT Look - for mine fuses, ground disturbance, tripwires Feel - for mine fuses, ground disturbance, tripwires Prod -every 2cm, 30 angle, use a knife, antenna, nail or any pointed object 1 Clear the ground around your feet and surrounding area 2 Adopt the prone position, continue, LOOK, FEEL, PROD clear an area 0.6m wide 3 Mark both sides of your path or the centre of it if your resources are limited 4 MARK, AVOID & MOVE around any mines you encounter; IN A VEHICLE 1 if help is available and you can, stay put 2 If you have to leave, LOOK, FEEL, PROD before getting onto the ground 3 LOOK, FEEL, PROD away from the vehicle to the designated safe area CASUALTY RECOVERY 1 Continually reassure the casualty 2 Clear a path to the casualty 3 Clear an area around the casualty 4 Give first aid the casualty 5 Clear a path out of the minefield 6 Recover the casualty ONCE CLEAR OF THE MINEFIELD MARK clearly RECORD on a map NB Don't rush and become a casualty yourself! Always call for specialist engineer and medical help as the first option
