Tunneller's Medals
Medal set of Sapper Harold Hawkin, including, from left to right, the 1914-1915 Star, the British War Medal 1914-1920 and the Victory Medal 1914-1919. Hawkin, a bricklayer by trade, enlisted for service with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in April 1915. After serving with the 3 rd Battalion in France and Belgium, he transferred to the 3rd Tunnelling Company, Canadian Engineers. During the German spring offensive of 1918, Hawkin was mortally wounded in a German gas attack in the Zonnebeke area of Belgium.
