Marshal Foch
Foch commanded France's Ninth Army during the 1914 Battle of the Marne on the Western Front, and, by early 1918, eventually commanded all Allied troops on the Western Front and in Italy. Foch signed this portrait to Sir Arthur Currie, the Canadian Corps commander from June 1917 to the end of the war.
