Issued by the Department of Militia and Defence, this certificate confirms the death of Charles Rapley Pearce, killed on 24 August 1916. Pearce, a gunner in the 1st Divisional Ammunition Column, later transferred to the air force and was killed in aerial combat near Peronne, France.
