Bishop's Aerial Message
An aerial message dropped by fighter pilot William Avery "Billy" Bishop over Ottawa on 3 November 1918. Addressed to all Canadians, Bishop's message is clear, "Buy Victory Bonds." A national hero after his exploits overseas, which included becoming the Empire's highest ranking ace and the recipient of the Victoria Cross, Bishop was recalled to Canada to sell war bonds and to encourage recruitment.
