Weight, Carel, CBE RA (1908-1997)

Weight was student at Goldsmiths College, University of London. He was given individual commissions during the war, including the series Recruit's Progress, before being employed as an official artist in 1945. He worked in Italy and Greece, recording the army education classes and the damage to buildings. After the war, he was a highly influential professor of painting at the Royal College of Art.
