PERMISSIONS AND USAGE FEES

To obtain permission to reproduce materials from the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation, usage fees, apart from the reproduction fees, may apply and will vary according to the intended usage of such material.

The CMCC will acknowledge differences between commercial usages and personal non-profit usages.  Each request is studied individually, on a case-by-case basis. The usage fee, if applicable, is based on information submitted to us through the on-line request form.

Fees are as following:

General conditions – material request 

  • Request must be made in writing by mail, fax or email.
  • Administration fees of $10.00 per order are applicable.
  • Allow 4 to 6 weeks for request processing.
  • Research fees of $50.00 per hour may be applicable (first 30 minutes are free).
  • Add reproduction and shipping fees to regular usage fees.
  • Add 100% to regular usage fees for emergencies (rush service: 3 days).
  • Discounts may apply for orders of 10 items or more.
  • Usage fees for research, personal or non-commercial uses, negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
  • All fees are in Canadian dollars and are subject to change without notice.
  • Fees do not include applicable taxes.
  • All sales are final.
  • Credit line is mandatory and is supplied by the Museum.
  • Unless approved in advance by the Museum, material shall be reproduced in its entirety and shall not be retouched, obscured or altered in any way which could affect its historical or artistic integrity.
  • CMCC has the right to deny or restrain usage of material from its collections.

Specific usage conditions:

  • Single publication printed in more than one language, rate based on overall print run total.  For each additional language, add 25% to regular usage fee; for all languages, add 100% to regular usage fee.
  • For exhibit purposes or public presentation:  fees negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

Specific usage conditions:

  • Reproduction of still images is authorized in low resolution only (up to a maximum of 96 dpi).


STILL images, MOVING images
(videos, animated sequences, and laser disk) and AUDIO recordings

Usage fee for still images, moving images and audio recordings, non-exclusive rights, one-time only, single-language distribution, per production, maximum five (5) years.
Fees on a per second basis.
